I have since seen Despatch No 101 from August from The Right Honourable Secretary of State transmitting a letter from Admiralty dated 14th August, 189... marked C on the tracing accompanying that Despatch, said to be 34 acres in extent but of which the boundaries of the War Department are incorrectly shown; the transfer is opposed because of the strip of land parallel to the coal store which was indicated in my report on the transfer.

The Commodore, Mr. MacDonnell, in his report on the area, said it would be quite another matter which might be favourable to the objection.

The 7 acres of forest he is in favour of transferring to the Admiralty.

The tracing accompanying the Despatch shows a strip of land parallel to the coal store, which is marked C on the lease plans of the Marina Lot as a public road and would lead to trouble with the lot-holders.

If area C is sold to the Admiralty, a fair price would be 80 cents per square foot, the price of lot marked A having already been fixed at 30 cents per square foot.
